An AAAA record is an IP address within the freshly launched IPv6 format and it is made up of eight different groups of hexadecimal digits, as opposed to the IPv4 IPs, which include four groups of digits between 1 and 255. An illustration of an IPv6 address is 3014:0d43:23a3:2354:1320:8f3b:2635:3254 and in this format the amount of IPs that may be created is many times higher than the number of the IPv4 addresses. Each domain has its web hosting server Internet protocol address as a record and in essence, that record tells the domain name where the site for it can be found. Depending on the system the company employs, the record will be called A (IPv4) or AAAA (IPv6). Changing this record allows you to host your website with one provider and your e-mails with another, so if you decide to use such a redirection to forward a domain address to a server that uses an IPv6 address, you'll have to set up an AAAA record for it.

AAAA Records in Shared Hosting

If you want to create a new AAAA record a domain name or subdomain hosted in your shared hosting account, it won't take you more than several easy steps to do that. Our in-house built Hepsia CP is very intuitive to use and is going to enable you to create or edit any record with ease. After you sign in and visit the DNS Records section, where you can find all present records for your domains and subdomains, you'll simply have to click the "New" button, choose AAAA from a small drop-down menu in the pop-up that'll appear, input or paste the required IPv6 address and save the change - it's as easy as that. The new record will be 100% functioning within no more than one hour and the hostname which you have created it for will start opening whatever content you have with the other provider. If required, you will also be able to modify the TTL (Time To Live) value, which indicates the time in seconds which the new record will be working after you eventually modify it to something different or you simply delete it.
